Description
The mental category of detained PATIENTS only, and it should be classified as designated in the Mental Health Act 1983. A PATIENT should be included under only one MENTAL CATEGORY.
This attribute is effective for PATIENTS detained prior to 3rd November 2008 when the relevant section of the Mental Health Act 2007 comes into force, which abolishes the Mental Health Act 1983 MENTAL CATEGORIES.
For PATIENTS detained from 3rd November 2008 when the relevant section of the Mental Health Act 2007 comes into force, the MENTAL HEALTH ACT 2007 MENTAL CATEGORY should be used.
Note: PATIENTS detained under Section 2, 4, 5, 135 and 136 of the Mental Health Act 1983 do not have a specified form of mental disorder and, therefore, the 'not specified' classification should be used.
