Pharmacy Technician

As of 1 July 2011, a Pharmacy Technician is a CARE PROFESSIONAL who is registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).

A Pharmacy Technician works under the direct supervision of a Pharmacist and carries out duties such as preparing and dispensing PRESCRIPTIONS and other health care products to PATIENTS.

In order for Pharmacy Technicians to practise in Great Britain, from 1 July 2011, they must be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council and must renew their registration annually.

Once a Pharmacy Technician registers with the General Pharmaceutical Council, they are allocated a registration number which uniquely identifies each registered Pharmacy Technician. This registration number is a 7 digit number starting with the number 5.

All Pharmacy Technicians who are currently licensed to practise in Great Britain are listed on the General Pharmaceutical Council Register.
