A GENERAL MEDICAL PRACTITIONER, also known as a MEDICAL DOCTOR, works in primary care and specialises in family medicine. They treat acute and chronic illnesses and provide preventive care and health education for all ages and both sexes. They have particular skills in treating people with multiple health issues and co-morbidities.
All MEDICAL DOCTORs working in general practice in the health service in the United Kingdom, other than doctors in training, such as GP Registrars, are required to be on the General Medical Council GP Register.
